We have your module installed on one DNN instance across 2 portals.  Each portal has connected it to their own Twitter feeds.  Yesterday we noticed that there were over 1.3 million rows of data in the DNNDudes_TweetDNNStatuses table.

This seemed pretty strange since each twitter account had maybe a hundred tweets in it.

We had to delete records from the table through SQL just to get the page to load.  

What would cause this?

I am not sure on this one. It should be deleting the tweets at least once per day for the days you have set. I will look to see if I can figure out what is going on.
